About Chomsky

Philosopher Noam Chomsky.
Chomsky, who is a lingustics professor at MIT, made extremely fundamental contributions to linguistics during the 1950s. However, in the last 30 years or more, he has widely become known to the public as the foremost critic of US foreign policy in the world. He has been called 'the world's most important living intellectual'. The writer of dozens of influential and famous books and articles ,and the popularizer of the powerful phrase 'manufacturing consent', Chomsky is a beacon of dissent in the most powerful country in the world. Irrespective of whether we agree with his views or not, he is a great symbol of the freedom of speech, one which is essential in any democracy. In a world in which power and wealth has exceedingly become concentrated in the hands of a few, I think it is important for us to at least listen to the views of people like Chomsky. They represent the only possible safeguard against the rule of totalitarianism, official or unofficial.
